Examples of my work

Below are a few websites which I have recently designed. Please feel free to visit them to get a better understanding of the kind of work I undertake.

efreeko

The efreeko website is my own site, developed along with fellow web designer Matt Argyle.

It is a free version of ebay where people give things away to each other rather than selling them.

A member signs up and then lists an item to give away. Anyone interested in this item, emails the user via the site and then pays a postage and packing charge (this has to be reasonable) via the site using paypal.

The site is fully automated so no intervention is needed by the site owners, other than answering emails and checking that the listings are acceptable (although our members do this a lot of the time!).

The Talent Directory

The Talent Directory is a site which I built for a couple of musicians. They wanted to set up a site so that artists could register within particular categories, enter details of themselves, upload photos and mp3 files where necessary. These 'profiles' are then available to members of the entertainment industry who may be looking for artists for a particular project.

This site has proved to be very successful and my programming code tested to the extreme by the 21000 members who have joined the site in the first 6 months!

The site encorporates an admin control panel where the owners can administer the profiles, an internal messaging system and some newsletter software which allows them to email their member base or members within individual categories

carquoteuk.com

Carquoteuk is a site which displays car and van leasing offers. A visitor chooses a particular car/van make and model and any relevant offers are then displayed.

The header design work and layout are not my own but the functionality of the site and the center design work is.

This site has two levels of administration. An admin control panel where the site owners can allocate usernames and passwords to car leasing companies, set up top offers and administer the site. And an advertising control panel where an individual advertiser can log in and manage their own advertising offers.

The CP-Photography website was designed for a freelance photographer who wanted to be able to create albums of photographs to show to her clients. Each client potentially can have their own secure album of pictures which requires a logon and password to gain access. The client can then view both thumbnail and large size pictures, adding those required to their basket. The customer then sends the contents of their basket as a order request to CP-Photography.

This site utilises a MySql database to store details of albums, pictures etc. There is an administration section to the site where CP-Photography can create albums, upload pictures, manage security details and process orders.

Pagham

The Pagham church website features a comprehensive content management system which enables church administrators to manage the site themselves. They can control both the top and sub menus and create new pages. Picture uploading is also a feature of this site, enabling them to make the site more colourful and interesting!

It has been managed very effectively to provide both an outward looking web presence and an inward looking communication tool for the church members. Members can visit the site to view the latest 'pews news', see what events are happening in the coming week and find contact details etc.

weddings24

Weddings24 is an eCommerce site selling all kinds of wedding items. Items are added to a basket, choices about the item are made and personalised messaged entered where appropriate and then the user checks out.

Linked to paypal, it is a fully functional eCommerce solution. There is an admin control panel where the site owner can add products, amend the text on certain pages and oversee order processing.

This site was developed for a property letting and maintenance company. They wanted a site to list the properties they had available to let and to sell as well as detailing their other services. They wanted all pages to be updateable, so that they could change the text regularly, thus attracting repeat visitors.

The search feature (will be utilised once number of properties increases) interrogates the property database and returns details of properties that the visitor might be interested in.

They also have the ability to add new properties, amend existing properties, change the property photographs and manage a database of customers. All of this is accessible via an administration section of the site.

This site is currently offline, due to problems with the business, but as it is a good example of the kind of work I do, I am leaving it in my portfolio.

CrossCheck was designed to advertise local Christian businesses in the Bognor Regis area. The aim of the site is to provide a place where people can find reliable businesses of all types.

The site features a directory of businesses within different categories. This is dynamic in that when a new business is added, the category appears if it is not there already, or the number of businesses in that category changes. There is an application form for new business wishing to apply and a contact us page. There is also a facility for businesses to log in and amend their own details.

The backend admin section provides a way for the administrators to check for new applications and follow up references and to manage the members entries.

This site was designed to promote a spanish holiday rental villa. It shows details of the accommodation, resort facilities and availability. It also has a section where guests can submit restaurants recommendations and places to visit. Guests can also submit feedback after their stay at the villa, view an interactive map of the area, get information about cheap flights and car hire and make an availability enquiry.

This site also utilises a MySql database and has an admin section, where enquires can be viewed and bookings created. The availability calendar reflects the information which is held in the bookings database, so once a booking has been made, the calendar is automatically updated.

The Perks website was created for a customer who wanted a website to promote her catering company. The site consists of an introductory page, a page showing sample menus, a customer testimonial page and a 'contact me' page, which sends an email to Perks and logs the enquiry in a database.

This site also has an admin section where the text on the front page can be edited, the menu details changed and the list of enquiries viewed.

This site was originally designed by somebody else but was very bland and the content management system required a knowledge of html, making it hard to update for the school administrators.

All pages are now editable using a easy to use text editor. I have added the filmstrip to the right of each page, with corresponding admin pages for uploading and changing these images. A photo gallery has been added as well as a password protected 'parents' area'.

This site was designed as a new business venture for myself. It was originally in response to lots of requests to develop 'holiday home' sites for owners who had admired my polarisvilla website.

After considerable success with the holiday home wereonthenet sites, I decided to expand and offer web site for small businesses.

The site features a secure login area and control panel to enable website owners to update their own individual pages. Their details are stored in a mysql database.
